The Experience
It has always been Kirsten's dream to go to Japan. Little Tokyo in Pasong Tamo (Chino Roces Ave.), Makati is the next best thing to actually being in Japan. You get to experience Tokyo with no strings attached!
Little Tokyo is like the Japanese equivalent of the Chinese Ongpin. It houses Japanese establishments of all sorts: ramen houses, yakiniku restaurants, groceries and even mature entertainment (yes, mature entertainment).
Most of the restaurants here are a bit pricey. Because we are budget daters, we went for the one offering the best value.
Hana is a casual dining restaurant offering authentic and relatively affordable Japanese food. You can pick from a variety of items in their menu: sushi, tempura, takoyaki (octopus balls), and even kakigori (flavored shaved ice). Items in their menu average at PhP 200-400 per order.
We decided to try their Miso Ramen (allergy alert: miso contains fish and/or chicken oil) and Pork Curry. Both were authentic tasting, but not really that special.
The presentation wasn't away from the ordinary either. It didn't taste bad, it just isn't sensational. We'll be back in Little Tokyo after my allergen level has stabilized to try more exciting stuff.
