The Experience
It was Kirsten's birthday and we were looking for a place to dine after her evening class at UP Diliman-TMC. We wanted to try something different but accessible. We ended up dining in Pan de Amerikana.
The place is far from being just a bakery. They have really good and reasonably priced bread (wheat pandesal at PhP6 and wheat ensaymada at PhP12 each) but what makes this place unique is their upside down theme!
Everything was upside down: the piano, sofa, tables, chairs, roof, windows, signs, and even a full sized Land Rover Defender!
The food was also great for the price. Among the things we tried was the Tinomok, a house specialty. It is made of pork balls with shrimp (allergy alert!) covered with gabi leaves, cooked very similar to the more popular Laing. The Fresh Lumpia had a really yummy dough similar to that of a crepe. The Caesar Salad was great for the price; it even had bacon bits! With the really cheap ("carinderia-like") prices, we still had room for dessert! We ordered a fresh ripe mango shake and a watermelon shake, both were indeed "fresh".
We will definitely come back for more!
