The Experience

We originally wanted to try an Italian restaurant at Pearl Drive for our Valentines date.

Unfortunately, the Italian restaurant already closed down. We searched for an alternative place to dine and we found Bangkok Cafe.
Bangkok Cafe serves affordable but great-tasting Thai food, usually in the 200-peso range per dish. We got two of their Thai rice toppings which came in photo-friendly tilted bowls.
Kirsten got their Chili Rice with Basil (Khao Pad Krappao). It was similar to that of Som's but had a more appetizing presentation.
I got their Dried Beef Curry (Khao Panaeng Nua). Their curry was coconut-milk based similar to other Southeast Asian curries. The beef was tender and the flavor was explosive.
We also got a "small" Pad Thai to share. Like in Thai Dara, they were accommodating to take the shrimps out of the dish (goodbye allergens). It is one of the best Pad Thai we've tasted to date.
To finish off, we had their Sticky Rice with Ripe Magoes (Khao Neaw Mamuang). As one of their foreign customers said, they make the best sticky rice! It is similar to the local kakanin, though having much more character. For Valentine's day, they made it extra special by serving it in a heart-shaped form.
