The Experience

We've been writing a lot of Japanese, Korean and Italian restaurants, so we decided to try something different: Thai cuisine! Luckily for us, we found an authentic restaurant that fits our budget.

Som's is located at what Ninyo called "Backwell" - meaning, at the back of Rockwell in Makati.
The place was really simple and it felt more like a canteen rather than a Thai Restaurant. But I bet it gets really crowded during peak hours because we saw tables and chairs outside the restaurant. The food must be really good.

Som's serves Red, Green and Yellow Curry. The color depends on the spicyness level of the dish. Red is the most spicy, while the Yellow one is more on the sweet side. Ninyo picked the Green Curry, which is the middle of the two.

Ninyo liked it because the spicyness level of the dish is just right for his palate. Serving size was huge and is already good for 2 to 3 persons. Too bad I cannot help him with the dish. I am not a fan of coconut-based curry.
I got the Spicy Rice with Basil. The way it was presented reminded me of the Korean's Bibimbap. It has meat, veggies, a lot of chillies, and an egg on top. The pork tasted sweet, but a little tough though. But it blends really well with the myriad of flavors brought by the basil, chillies and veggies.
We also got the Thai Milk Tea. This was a revelation for us because Ninyo and I have extreme preferences in milk teas. But this is one milk tea that both of us loved.
