The Experience
Kirsten and I laughed our hearts out as we watched Lost on Journey (2010), a Chinese movie shown
for FREE in the 6th Spring Film Festival at ShangriLa organized by Ateneo de Manila University.

For the past year, we have been watching free foreign films at Shang but this one gave us the hardest laugh.

We enjoyed it so much that we can give it a perfect 5/5 if not for being in line for almost three hours and for the subtitles set initially in Mandarin (good thing they changed it to English after a few minutes). It was all worth it though.

The film was about Chenggong Li, a rich businessman going home for the new year, and Geng Niu, a cow milker seeking payment from a debtor, in their hilarious struggle to get to their destination.

Along the way, they shared misadventures that almost sent the audience ROFL (rolling on the floor laughing). The went through a lot of struggles: from Gen Niu drinking an entire gallon of milk to Li getting in between a lovers' quarrel to both chasing a winning lottery ticket.
Best of all, they narrowly escape an "explosion"... well almost an explosion.

Eventually, Li got home and Gen Niu got to meet his debtor by boarding a live chicken delivery truck.

It  feels great to appreciate foreign culture more as we watch these films. See you in the next film festival at Shang Cineplex!
