The Experience

One rainy Saturday afternoon, Kirsten and I were thinking of what to have for dinner. We had to make do with the ingredients we have on hand and we found these lying around:

  • Pasta (about 200grams, uncooked)
  • Canned Whole Button Mushrooms (small, cut to halves)
  • McCormick Cajun Mix (half-used)
  • Garlic (4-5 medium-sized cloves, finely chopped)
  • Skinless Chicken Breast (about 200grams)
  • Olive Oil (a few tablespoons)
  • Assortment of spices and condiments (salt, pepper, cayenne, paprika, Parmesan cheese)
I tried searching for a recipe online but all I found were either cream based or tomato based. We wanted something oil based so we tried experimenting with the stuff we have. You might want to follow these easy steps as well:
  1. Marinate chicken in McCormick Cajun mix. Set aside for a few minutes at least (the longer, the better!)
  2. Cook pasta as instructed in packaging. Drain and set aside.
  3. Sautee garlic in olive oil.  Add salt and pepper to taste.
  4. Once the garlic turns brown, add the chicken along with the cajun marinade. Add more olive oil if needed.
  5. Once chicken is cooked, add the mushrooms to the mixture. Add spices and condiments to taste.
  6. Add cooked pasta and mix on low fire. Sprinkle with Parmesan cheese. Enjoy!

And yes, our dinner turned out well. :)
