The Experience
If you're in for an affordable and decent meal at the UP Shopping Center (SC), Mashitta is our best bet.
Kirsten and I started loving this place about a year ago. This humble eatery serves authentic Korean and Japanese food at affordable prices. Their kimchi is the best in town! For our most recent visit, we had Ramyum and Korean pork curry.
Ramyum is the Korean version of the Japanese Ramen. Kirsten ordered plain noodles (which was not very far from the instant version) at PhP 90 as the other variants had some allergens (not good for me). If you're not very sensitive to seafood, we recommend their Tempura Ramyum at just PhP 125.
We also had an order of Korean-style pork curry. It tasted similar to Teriyaki Boy's version, only better: much cheaper and tastier! The serving size was great. You might find yourself looking for extra rice.
For non-North people, Mashitta has recently opened a branch at the 3rd Floor of the University Mall, Taft Ave. Manila. They serve the same great food while offering a more modern ambiance. We'll upload more pictures of the place in our Facebook page soon.
